Salisbury & Ryan LLP specializes in international arbitration primarily representing foreign clients. We have represented clients in arbitrations before most of the world’s large arbitral bodies including the International Chamber of Commerce, the London Court of International Arbitration, the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes, the Swiss Chambers’ Arbitration Association, the American Arbitration Association, the International Centre for Dispute Resolution, as well as numerous other organizations and under various ad hoc arrangements. Recent representative matters include:

  • Represented a major Swiss-Russian group in a series of related arbitrations and litigation in seven countries over delays and defects in a multi-billion dollar mining project before the Swiss Chamber of Commerce and the ICC obtaining a $1 billion pre-judgment attachment in the Netherlands and a $140 million arbitration award against a South African mining company.

  • Represented a large French company in an arbitration before the LCIA involving a dispute over worldwide IP rights to key brands, obtaining a judgment in favor of the French company.

  • Represented a Russian group in arbitrations before the International Centre for Dispute Resolution of the AAA involving disputes relating to the purchase of several of the most expensive penthouse apartments ever sold in New York City, forcing developer to repurchase one penthouse due to misrepresentations and obtaining a multimillion dollar judgment in the second arbitration.

  • Represented a Russian group in an arbitration under the rules of the AAA in an aerospace dispute winning a multi-million dollar award.

  • Represented an Austrian group in LCIA arbitration against the Government of Kyrgyzstan concerning the expropriation of the main airport in that country, winning judgment in favor of the airport owner.

  • Represented a major Spanish company in an arbitration with a Canadian company involving the termination of a lease of an international resort located in the Caribbean Represented Swiss and German companies in an international arbitration involving a major shipbuilding dispute.

  • Represented a European company in an arbitration before the ICC in Paris against the Government of Tunisia concerning a major development project expropriated by such government.
